Lita Ford is one of the most well-known women in rock and roll. Shes also known for her striking, punk-influenced style, which she has been wearing since the beginning of her career. She was born in Los Angeles, California, on November 29th, 1959.
Lita started playing guitar at age nine after being inspired by a guitar hero named Jimi Hendrix. She went on to study jazz and classical music at Long Beach City College before deciding to pursue rock and roll as a career option.
In 1977, Lita joined Alice Coopers band The Nazz as a backup guitarist and vocalist. She recorded an album with them called Schools Out before leaving to join Kiss in 1979 under the name Vince Neil Perryman. While with Kiss, Lita released two solo albums (a self-titled debut in 1980 and Rock Hard) before she rejoined Alice Cooper in 1981 as lead guitarist and lead singer for the rest of his bands existence up until his retirement from music altogether in 1992.
